Utah Baby Shower

My cousin Jennifer threw a baby shower for me at my Aunt Jo's house in Utah on Monday. There were about 20 of us there and it was sooo fun! I am so blessed to have so much love and support from so many people in my family as well as friends I have made the past couple years in Utah. Thanks for coming everyone!

This is my good friend Tara and I. We used to be coworkers at American Family Insurance up until Tara stopped working in February.  Her and I have stayed really good friends and I just love her to pieces! In fact, my older brother Parker grew up and played ball with her husband, Jason Call, when we lived in Farr West! What a small world :) She is 13 weeks pregnant with her second baby! Good luck Tara!

My cousin Jennifer was the mastermind behind this whole shower. She is one of the most crafty and creative people I've ever known. She even made homemade chicken salad for chicken salad sandwiches that were sooo yummy! She put on such a great and fun shower that I think everyone enjoyed! Thanks Jenn!

One of the activities we did was getting in groups of three people, using a few baby magzines and a pair of scissors, and piecing together baby body parts and facial features to create what they thought Saije would look like. Let's just say I got a few interesting looking babies! Ha Ha! It was hilarious!

I couldn't forget to post a pic of the most darling diaper cake I have ever seen! Of course, it was made by my cousin Jennifer! :) The bow on top is tied to a bottle, all the flowers are hair accessories, and there is a bag of wipes on the inside that all the diapers are stacked around. I couldn't and still can't get over how darling it is! I will use those daipers last so I can display this in Saije's room for awhile :) Thanks again Jenn!

37 wks 3 days

Today I am officially 37 wks 3 days pregnant. I am soooo thankful to have made it this far. At this point Saije can REALLY come at anytime because she is considered full term. I had my 37 week doctor appointment on Monday and of course it was all good news except for one thing: I tested positive for Strep B so I have to be pumped full of antibiotics AT LEAST 4 hours before Saije passes through the birth canal so she doesn't get it. If she does, I will have to stay at least one extra night in the hospital and Saije will have to be monitored and on antibiotics as well. I would prefer for that not to happen. 1 in 3 women test positive for Strep B when they are pregnant too, so it's nothing too serious or uncommon. I have gained a total of 19 lbs this entire pregnancy, which is alright, but definitely on the low end for being 8 1/2 months along. Saije's heart rate is wonderful, my belly is growing like it should, her position is perfect, she is one active little girl, I am dilated to 2 cm, and 80% efaced. Mom and doctor couldn't ask for anything better! Because I am a little more than two hours away from Ogden Regional Hospital where I will be delivering her and the fact that I tested positive for Strep B, my doctor and I decided it might just be safest to schedule me to be induced so we make sure I have enough time to get to the hospital and also to make sure I get the minimum four hours of antibiotics that I need before she comes. The date we set is Thursday, August 25th! That is two weeks from tomorrow! As much as I want her here soon, I hope she waits till the 25th so I know everything will be fine.  My worst fear at this point is my water breaking while I'm sittin here in Idaho and have to make a mad dash to the hospital with the chance of delivering my little girl on the side of the freeway! Ha ha. Just kidding. But seriously...the 25th sounds to me like a wonderful day for an angel to be born :)

Two weeks ago at my 35 week appointment I got another peek at my baby girl! Because she is big and smashed in there pretty tight, it was hard to distinguish which was what body part. Ha Ha! This was the only still shot the doctor took, but it's pretty dang adorable. She is giving us a thumbs up! It's sideways, but you can still see it. It's at the very top of the picture, if you look closely. You can see her fist with her thumb sticking out to the right. I love you Saije! Can't wait to meet you in two weeks!

Baby Shower in Boise :)

So before I start, I just have to make clear and well known that I HAVE THE BEST AND GREATEST FRIENDS IN THE WHOLE WORLD!!! Ok...Now I will begin :)

One of my best friends, Megan, made this darling baby shower cake! She made it all from scratch, fondant and all! Isn't it wonderful? I love how she incorporated all the colors I will be using to decorate Saije's nursery, although they have nothing to do with each other. She is so creative! Thanks so much Meg!

Roxy and Megan were the two ladies that put this whole baby shower together and I couldn't be more thankful and appreciative that they did! Besides playing some games and opening gifts, we also had a BBQ with hamburgers/hotdogs, fruit, veggies, chips, and delicious potato, pasta, and macarroni salad made by Roxy. It was all delicious!

I received so many much needed baby items as gifts! It's pretty amazing how much stuff one little tiny person needs, especially right off the bat! I got pretty much all my essentials covered for the most part, with the exception of a few things, so I'm ready to roll! Some of the items pictured above are: baby wash, child proofing kit, baby carrier toys, baby spoons, hair accessories, baby powder, baby thermometer, nail clippers, binkies, binky holder, dishwasher organizer to wash bottles, bathroom basket to store baby bathroom items, booger sucker, diaper cream, bath towel with matching washclothes, baby bath, stuffed animal ducky (not in picture), a cute pink/zebra outfit, pink beanie with zebra flower, and also a crocheted pink/cream/brown baby blanket made by my friend Matt's mother that is not in the picture. Thanks so much everyone!

I also got, of course, a bunch of diapers and a package of wipes! Those will be much appreciated here shortly :)

I forgot to mention when I was listing out the gifts that Sam & Roxy got me the baby blue/brown Pack n Play that I registered for! Thanks again guys! I love you soooo much!

So much for updating this week...

Too much has been going on this past week, or at least I feel like it, so I obviously haven't had time to do all my Blog updates like I wanted to. I have been cleaning out and organizing ALL my stuff from two years ago that I stored at my parents house after Alex and I got divorced. It is absolutely amazing some of the things I decided to keep. It's not all necessarily junk, but alot of "stuff" I don't use and probably won't use, so why keep it ya know? It feels so good to throw so much away or take so much to the DI! Decluttering and organizing is almost an addiction for me now! Within a couple days I hope to be done! By the looks of it, I am getting rid of more stuff than I'm keeping, which is actually a great feeling! I should have done this a l-o-n-g time ago! Anyway...that's what has consumed so much of my time and taken me away from blogging. Everything I was going to blog about is about to happen all over again in a week anyway so what's the point now: Brogan will be home again, this time for TWO weeks instead of one (hopefully be here when Saije is born), I have another baby appointment on Monday, I will be moving into my new apartment within the week so moving in with my parents is already old news, etc. I will try to do better next week or at least keep up with things as they happen instead of posting 5 different blogs all at once :) One thing I can blog about right now though is my baby shower in Boise my friends had for me last week on the 30th. It was a blast! I'm having another baby shower on Monday in Ogden that my cousin Jennifer is throwing for me. I'll make sure and blog about that too next week! Hopefully Saije doesn't decide to come before I can update ya'll on everything or it will NEVER get done! LOL!

Picture Frames

So I learned today that with this much time on my hands waiting for this Little Lady to come, I should probably stay out of the craft isle unless I have plans to make something specific. Ha Ha! If not, I will walk out of there with a FEW different projects to start and I already have several projects half finished. I keep buying more and more and more, but it's soooooo fun! Here is what my project was for today...matching picture frames for Saije's nursery. Fortunately, it was a start to finish thing all in one day. I was very pleased with how they turned out and the fact that I only spent $8!

When I feel up to it, I will post a brief explanation/story behind Saije's dad, Joe. I know curiosity gets the best of all of us and I've had several people ask me out of love and concern if everything is ok. I can assure all of you that I am happy and content with my decision in that department and we will just wait and see how things REALLY pan out once she makes her much awaited arrival. I do ask, however, that my decision be respected. Joe, by no means, is a bad person or deserves to be bad-talked about no matter your personal opinion. There IS a reason I was with him for a year despite the constant "roasting" at both our expenses and our relationship's expense and there IS definitely a reason he is the father of my daughter. No one knows him like I do. Things happen and things change. Sometimes there just isn't a dang thing we can do about it. The important part should be that I am happy and I'm doing my best to prepare myself for Motherhood the best I can, with or without him. My baby girl will NEVER be short people who love and adore her.

On a MUCH happier note, this week I'm hoping to catch this Blog up to date on the most recent events in my life, those being: moving back home to Burley, the baby shower my best friends Roxy and Megan had for me in Boise yesterday, Brogan being home this entire past week on his week off work, my 35 wk dr appointment I had on Wednesday with an ultrasound pic, etc. So much going on! :)

7.19.2011 House Fire :(

I was making my 5 minute drive to work on Tuesday and saw a little bit of smoke coming from a house that is right on the side of the main road just a block before my work. I instantly pulled over, got out, and walked over to a lady standing on the sidewalk who was calling 911. She lived right up the road and saw the smoke just barely before I did, or it would have been ME calling 911! How scary! There is alot to the story, but to sum it all up, this cute little house burned to the ground and I witnessed it all from start to finish, which was about 2 1/2 hours. This first picture was taken as the first responders were barely arriving. It went from just a little smoke, to all that black smoke, to flames blazing 60 ft in the air in a matter of 2-3 minutes! Thank goodness no one was home. The home was being rented by a couple and their small child. They had left to run some errands when the air conditioner/swamp cooler shorted out and exploded. Fox 13 News interviewed me about it and I was on the news that night! How embarassing! Ha Ha! I can honestly say it was one of the most terrifying and tragic things my eyes have ever witnessed. Especially at first when no one knew if anyone was inside. My heart was just aching and aching and aching and then we got the news that they weren't even home. Still though, they lost everything. The house was completely demolished :( Makes me 10X more grateful for what I have. It can all be gone with the blink of an eye. The whole experience really choked me up. A few tears were shed by this pregnant lady for sure! Like I said, I was there from start to finish. It's amazing how fast fire can take over and there's not a dang thing you can do about it! That poor family...my heart really goes out to them :'(
